In a country like the Philippines, having a stable source of income is very necessary since the economic situation is comparatively volatile.  Source of income is either through a job or a business. Approximately 90% of the people earning are employed and 10% are the people with their own business.

There are a lot of graduates whose aim is only to be employed after college. Every year however, majority is either unemployed or under employed. Unemployed refers to those people without work, while the term underemployed means that a person qualified of a certain job designation is given a job which is far below his potential capacity to work.  Example of this are doctors who work as caregivers abroad or teachers as domestic helpers due to lack of good opportunity in their own country.

One must be equipped with a good educational background, adequate skills and trained properly for a certain type of job.  Without these traits it is tough to really get the job that you want unless you have a good contact or credible people who can recommend you to an employer. There are some cases that the type of work is irrelevant as long as the person is earning.

Educational attainment is given much weight when applying for a job.  However there are thousands of college students graduating each year and aspiring to have a job after they finish their schooling, and there are millions of graduates who are not having work at all due to the quality of education they got.

In order to increase the chance of being hired, there are employment agencies which can assist people in finding employers. Nurses, teachers, sea fearers, engineers, service crew, house helpers are commonly going to agencies for help in securing a good and safe job. People are just settling for jobs with lower salaries just to help their families.  It is better than to have no work at all.

In the internet there are a lot of agencies which are looking for qualified applicants which are then referred to prospects locally or in other parts of the globe. They require applicants to submit several documents, should pass the medical and psychological tests, and have an interview with the probable employer.

One must be careful in applying online, since there are employment agencies which are not reputable and its aim is to get money from the clients. Just make sure that the employment agency is legal and has a track record of helping applicants get a job suited for their qualifications in a safe environment for a reasonable cost.

One problem in the country is that there are few job openings for people above forty years old.  One reason might be they are charging higher in their salaries compared to the new graduates.  Another might be due to their attitude to learn and might be a cause of conflicts in the work place.  But these are isolated cases since there are a lot of people in this age bracket who are still very productive and can deliver well in terms of work output.

Employment agencies can help tie up these people to employers which are output oriented.  There are many companies which focus on the end result and cost is only secondary.  The available jobs in the internet is countless but it only requires patience, a good resume, self confidence, and good people to help you out locate the perfect employer.

Lastly, after securing a job, it is wise to save money for the future and start thinking of a nice business concept so that you will not be an employee for the rest of your life, rather you will be the one to hire good and qualified people to work for you.
